Cars going well, not a lot more I can do to it to keep it within the M2C2 class it falls into in the CAMS Tarmac rally rules. There's a few mods you can't see like all the airbags have been removed etc etc.
Next up will be hydraulic handbrake and separate callipers for it and custom shift to get it up higher near my hand. I'll get rid of the centre console at the same time and replace it with something custom carbon fibre to mount the different switches for the co-driver.
Then maybe some CF door cards and strip out the rest of the carpet and head lining and seam weld it. Other than that the only engine mods i can do is to balance and blueprint it and for the small gain I'll get with it having to stay NA I'm not sure it's worth it until it really needs a rebuild.
Next event is Wheels on Wide Bay a one KM tarmac sprint up at Maryborough at the end of the month, we get 10 runs over two days. I've also just sent my entry off for Mt Buller Sprint in November which I'm really looking forward to attending, the map of the route on the website reminds me of the roads I grew up driving on in BC.
The thing is I'm under no illusions of winning any of these events against the likes of STI's, Evo's, Jim RIchards and the like, I do this as a hobby for fun and I enjoy the car more now than when it was stock, so as long as I don't chuck it off a cliff I'm happy.
Ideally I'd like to get an S2000 Tarmac Polo from Rene Georges Rally Sport and run it, but I'm having a hard time selling Marti the benefits of dropping 150K+ on a car I could only use in events and at least with the R if I'm discrete I can still drive it on the road and haven't had to get rally rego for it yet.
Cheers Al
Edit must update that sig most of it is wrong now
Edit 2 BTW the stock R steering wheel and airbag is still for sale if you know anyone interested in it.
