installing new springs in a Bora 4motion.....

....is a royal PITA!!!!! Unlike the DIY guides I found on the web for MKIVs, the Bora 4motion rear springs do not just come out when you remove the shocks (even with spring clamps). Got waaaaay out of my depth pulling things apart to try and get the damn springs out. I eventually managed it after many hours of cursing my lack of appropriate tools (and mechanical knowledge), and now my car rides on R32 Euro spec suspension with Neuspeed front and rear bars. Sooooo much better ride now - firmer and "sportier", but more compliant and comfortable if that makes any sense. Perfect ride height now too, ready for my Oettinger REs to go on as soon as they arrive.

Hey are you going to Maroondah dam ? Any chance I could get a ride ? How much did the Euro spec R32 springs set you back ?

Did they get rid of most of the sloppiness ?

Nan, not going to Maroondah. Picked up the Euro R32 suspension (H&R springs and Bilstein VW Racing shocks/dampers) from a guy on Vortex. Practically brand new, seller said they had done 15k km and I believe him (not one chip or rust mark from "spring slap"), paid $750. Mated with Neuspeed front and rear swaybars there is definitely no slop any more. Got the rear bar set on soft as it is better around town, but for the 2 days I had it set on hard I found it quite easy to induce power oversteer (fun ). With the soft setting it has neutral-slight understeer (not so fun but wife complains less).

Just waiting for the Oettinger REs to clear Customs now....

Hmmm, that sounds quite good ! Need to go for a ride in yours sometime.

As I really think the car is moving far to much on braking and acceleration. Nice choice on the RE's !!!
