Hi gpk,
That's a great post, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm curious to know some months after fitment how much difference this pipe has made to the performance of the car.
Comparing the two, the new one the new one appears to be more efficient, a more consistent taper and less restrictive in appearance but I'm wondering just how much difference this relatively simple mod makes and whether you see it as a worthwhile investment?
Cheers
George

harhar -- wheres my finger salute smilie???
the price for each was roughly the same, retail wise,if there was a great difference, maybe I wouldnt have done it.but I did get the ABD pipe much cheaper and so,I bought it,even though I really wanted the forge one to begin with.(abd has gone now to a new BLUE home!!)
This mod is relatively easy and the power difference is instantly felt.So I would recommend it 100%!!!!
Is there a big power difference between the two? not that I felt it.There are people that say the original pipe can collapse as the revs rise and when its hot,I would believe that as The original pipe doesnt look the goods.
But the forge item is very sturdy and very difficult to flex even when its hot.
Motherf**ker - That was a c*** of a job.
Eventually got it done but it took me a few hours (!) - Couldnt get the car up onto my stands because it is now too low (duh to me) so I had to dodgy it up with 3 jacks and a few bricks.
Spent most of my time trying to get around disconnecting the heater hose clamp but figured I was wasting my time - I went to a mates place and picked up the right Alan key and eventually sorted it out.
Anyway - At first I was sort of 'meh' then over the course of a decent drive it really started to impress me!
Spools up quicker, power sticks around for longer in the rev range.. Feels like a real monster.
Interestingly - It doesn't seem to lose as much grip in 1st - Before I think boost used to just really kick in and now that its more progressive the tyres can hang on a little longer. Definetly quicker though.
And this is a dodgy yumcha TIP off ebay - Seems to be made well and fits well! For $120 and abit of time.. can't go wrong!
note - This is me installing it after a chip, j valve, air intake, 3" downpipe + cat, BOV, modded intercooler guard.. So I probably had the most to gain from the TIP !![]()

hhhhahahhhhhhhhhhhahahahahahah! good one sov! made me laugh!!!!
I should have wrote that trying to do it on the ground would be much harder.I did mine on the hoist so I could move easily and go down whenever I wanted.
Heater hose??? hahhaa, its a bit tight, but keep away from undoing anything other than the intake and whatever is connected to that.
How did it slip over the turbo? did it slide in easily?
