    Indicator clicker

Hey guys, my indicator clicker has decided it has a mind of its own in the last week and has intermittently decided to click a few extra times randomly, I've noticed after turning off the left circuit. The lights don't flash on the dash and I don't think on the outside either, it's just the clicker. Haven't noticed it (yet) after turning the right circuit or hazard lights off.

The sound seems to come from the midde of the dash. Just wondering where the clicker switch is actually located. Does anyone know? I thought it might be part of the hazard light module.

(I did recently pull part of my dash out to change the phone car kit about 2-3 mths ago, but i didn't touch any wiring, it was just a case of unplug the old box and plug in the new one using the same loom & leads. Can't see that this would have any impact but might be relevant.)

    Cheers

The item you refer to is called 'relay' or a flasher unit.

It could be under the dash, normally close to the fuse box. Doubt your fiddling caused the problem.

You can find out which one it is by turning the hazards on and touching the several relays under there to feel which one is clicking. remove, get part id and put new one in.

These do fail, new one should be cheap enough.. I would try that first.

Ummm...on the Mk IV the flasher relay is integrated into the hazard switch in the middle of the dash.

Cool, that's what I was hoping!

Don't feel like pulling my dash apart again, did that changing the phone car kit before and don't want to do it again! Car is due for an oil change, mechanic can do this for me too
