If you had a spare $2000 to spend on your VW...

I decided to buy 2000 gti to save a little extra money compared to a 20003 model and use the saved funds for some mods.

I have $2000 left over to play with.

I'm hoping to get a bit of extra ooomph and by looking around at prices, it costs so much more to modify a golf than it did my 180SX.

(For example with my 180, my FMIC, full exhaust, dump pipe, high flow cat, boost controller, POD and a service cost $1800 installed)

Now for the record I'm loving the GTI so much more than the 180 - all around, other than straight line speed it's better in every way than the 180SX.

But as it is stock, I'm wondering what the best use of $2000 would be and where in Sydney I should get the work done. I'm hoping to have it all done by the time of the GTG on the 11th.

It seems that $2000 would get a chip installed and maybe a 2.5" dump pipe also? Or dump and a tip?

And sorry for the newbiness, but does the chip really make that much difference to justify the cost?

And if a GTI had chip and exhaust, does anyone have any ideas how this would rate as a 0-100 time? Maybe around high 6 seconds? Low 7s?

So for a stock GTI with $2000 - what would you do?

Quick price run down for you;-

GIAC Chip - $1600ish (or similar chip)
    3" Downpipe - $350ish (stainless steel)
Turbo Inlet Pipe - $250-350 (forge, apr, etc)
Diverter Valve - $200-400 (go fast bits, forge, bailey, etc)
CAI Airbox Mod - $30-80 (3" tubing into airbox, very effective)

Seb @ Euromotive in Girraween (Parra Area) GIAC
Paul @ Muller & Muller (Canterbury) Oettinger
Derek @ European Autotech (Northern Beaches) APR
Milan @ TCCA (Northern Sydney) MTM?

and yes a chip makes a HUGE difference and you will be shocked. best to go for a ride on a chipped golf prior to see what your missing out on

    hey mate,
personally I would go suspension first.as for a 0-100 time you can go here www.mtm-online.de/ and its listed.or you could go to the site that fuzion suggested on the performance and upgrade forum.
The dump pipe you can get custom made 2 3/4" or 3" less than $300 at most good muffler places.also ive got a turbo inlet pipe(which is the lower half of the turbo inlet hose, check my how to thread) which im thinking of selling cheaply.that did do a noticible difference when I first installed it.
