    I killed my compressor.

    Yep. Killed it dead.

    I replaced the clutch coil a few weeks ago and I reckon I have simply done up the nut on the front too much. The compressor was spinning but it was laboured and made some noises. I turned the car off as soon as I noticed and the clutch was SO HOT I couldn't go near it even with gloves on.

    When I was finally able to pull all the bits off you can see the damage. I'm so pissed off as I have only had a regas a week ago. I'm assuming that a new compressor will require new gas?

    This happened as I was putting the car back together to take it for its first drive in a few months. Can I put the pulley wheel on the compressor so the car at least runs?

    Heres the gory bits;

    Anybody have a Sanden SD7V16 Model 1233 for sale?

    Looks like you didn't put the shim back in place (I'm a fridgie, service manager at a transport refrigeration company). Yes a new comp would mean new gas as well as a new dryer if the vehicle has one. I would be able to get you a new one if you like.

    I'm not saying that is deff the reason why this happened but it looks like it. There could be a few other reasons as well

    In would guess the shim was missing also.
    You would need the gas extracted, you get a credit. Swap the compressor dryer new seals and go get your credit of gas put back in. Pay only a small service fee for gas service about $60.
    Compressor and dryer can be had for around $350 ex Sydney, I could get you some details later.

    Try jmautoair.com.au
    Call them they will not answer email etc.

    And to get the car working in the interim, put the pulley back on with the circlip but leave out the field coil and don't bother with the clutch plate. The pulley should spin freely.
