The dogbone won't help steering. It's an engine mount that restricts movement of the engine in the chassis - meaning that the engine turns less and there's a more immediate transfer of power to the gearbox/wheels.

The other thing I did was have the ECS MK4 Golf / Jetta / New Beetle Front Suspension Refresh Kit - Stage 2 fitted. I had lots of bumping and grinding from my suspension/steering, as well as some noticable play, and this kit has made a noticable difference - everything feels much more tied together.
    Nothing to see here...

Quick question with the brakes, did you buy them slotted or get them done at a machinist?

They're RDA slotted rears. The fronts that are coming in are yet to be slotted - I was getting EBC Sport rotors, but apparently they were ruined during the slotting process - and not an issue with the process, but rather the rotors - GAP have stopped carrying the EBC Sport rotors due to quality concerns as well...

Hmmm... I'd just do a double check that they have been fitted on the correct sides. From what I've seen it is normally common practice for the slots to face in the other direction. That said I have seen them the way yours are installed.

However it is the directional venting veins that are more important and is worth checking to make sure that they are going in the right direction. If not they won't be cooling properly.

I spoke to quozl about EBC rotors a last year when I did my fronts. When he enquired about the sport rotors back in 2006 or something EBC had never actually made a batch of them. They had all the specs and CAD drawings and some development ones etc (which I imagine are the photos on the websites you see) but they'd never actually made any batches of them.

GAP didn't even stock the fronts last year when I did all this and EBC Australia wasn't interested and I didn't get a response from any of the overseas stores that did as they just refused to ship to Australia.

Mine are just the stock OEM rotors which I had machined locally. ECS do the same thing with their slotted rotors too.

    Cheers,
    Trent

I'm not sure if the venting in the rears is directional, I will ask the question though for slotting and venting. I've seen them both ways as well, and have even seen some manufacturers specify one way for some of their products and the other way for others.

GAP stocked the EBC Sport rotors for a brief period of time (probably not starting until after you looked) up until a few months ago - I was all set to buy a set, but they vanished off the GAP website. Here's the response I received when I asked what'd happened:

"We are not handling the EBC rotors for that application at this time due to some quality issues with them."

I asked if there were specific details, and got this as a reply:

"We had many customers report noise and/or vibration and return them."

At the same time, I'd had a set brought in and due for machining. Apparently the rotors "failed" (I can only assume structurally) during the slotting process - and RDA (who were doing the work) said it was not an issue with their process - leaving only the rotors as being the fault.

I've seen the ECS get the stock rotors slotted, and know that quozl uses them - that's an option for me down the track. GSL Rallysport are investigating another option for me - if that goes well, I'll be sure to let people know.

The front's going down a fraction, and the back is going up to match (it's too low at the back at the moment, and it's causing both camber and ride height issues). In the end, it should be sitting nice and level, just a fraction lower than the front is now. It should be sweet
