Geez mate if you'd actually put some time and effort into your car and given it a good clean you might have actually won!
    Congrats by the way.
    Cheers,
    Trent

    G'day Manaz,
I'm pretty sure that's my old Bora, I traded APE on an R32 in '06 at McCarrolls with 5x,xxx kms.
Good to see that it landed with an enthusiast!
Whilst under my ward she was pretty good, the slave cylinder went and was replaced under warranty just before I handed her over as were the air con vent motors too.
I left her with a scrape on the driver's wing mirror, but apart from that thought she was in decent nick.
I also remember seeing her for sale on carsales within 12 mths of me trading her.
Not sure what happened with the door, but nothing to do with me.
I am now wishing that I held on to the Bora, especially with the FI options now available for the 24vs - given their original purchase price vs GTI of same era I think they are a bargain on the 2nd hand mkt.
    Cheers
    Rob

    Hi Rob (great name!)

Good to have contact with the original owner! The scrape's still on the mirror, I'll get that sorted eventually.

For what it's worth, there are some good FI options for the Mk5 R32 these days too, if that's your thing.

The difference is hard to define - the car/gearbox/chassis just seem more "connected" - there's less give or pause due to movement of components in relation to each other as you apply power - the car just goes when you tell it to (as long as the clutch doesn't slip - another story! ).

I have the street bushes, and there's a noticeable but not at all excessive increase in harshness - you hear and feel a little more of the engine/gearbox (and feel more connected to the car as a result). I noticed a similar feel when I drove goodfella's car before I had my dogbone installed, but didn't recognise what it was from - the upgraded mount is almost certainly the cause.
After just over 2 years (and < 20,000km), the INA dogbone and engine/gearbox mounts have been removed due to completely perished bushings. I'm going to try get some photos, but the noise the engine was making was terrible (goodfella can attest to it). Back to stock items for me for the time being, quite disappointed that the INA ones failed like this, but not sure there's much I can do about it...

    Fark.

$700+ for both mounts and fitting (an hour's labour each side), and that's after paying $200+ for the dogbone and fitting.

I *will* be contacting INA about this I think...

20,000km??? sure aftermarket parts like that may need to replaced more often but you'd think there would be lot more then that!
