Im not sure which bolt you mean, can you take a picture, is it off the shifter cables or off of the HPA SS ?
If it's off the SS contact HPA and it's 10 $ for a new one. I have one sitting here but keeping for when I resell my HPA SS for 6 speed.
Went to change the throws from 40% to 25% on my Adjustable short shifter last night and the bolt on the bottom of the adjustable pin Sheared clean off!!
So if you have one of these be super carefull when adjusting the throws..you could break it.
what a PITA!
and i have no idea where the standard shifter weight is..

No Matter its fixed..
My Engineer is a smart Cookie
HPA kindly used a M8 Bolt with a non existant Thread Coursness
so with the help of a Drill Press a Tapping Tool
its no longer adjustable now but that doesnt fuss me
drilled out the adjuster tapped in a m8 Thread
wound a m8 Stud in
and Drilled and Tapped a M10 Thread and heli-coiled a new M8 Thread in Good As new
and not adjustable not fussed either because the really short setting sucks balls when gear shifting its a right pain in the batty!
hmm I have only tried the 40% reduction, I might reduce it and see how it goes, It is very short at the moment. I did the VW alignment but it was still notchy so Played a bit and it was better. I do like it when I am in a hurry and even than when driving slowly its nice to !
How did you manage to do that? Also I hope the bit that sheared off didn't fall into anything where it can do any damage. Funny how you were saying the other day about the short shifters wearing the gearbox. It looks like the short shifter has worn more.

Yep i would be removing the ****ing thing if i actually had the standard one to replace it with.. its crap
i like the longer throws it doesnt make you want to rush the gears..
Car is going in next week for Gearbox Rebuild
Probably new Bearings and Synchros and more obviously new fluids..
that and im getting my CVs done at the same time.!
I find that you can rush the gears with either setup. You have to keep in mind the box was built to be shifted at a certain throw, so I just shift at the same speed I would with the normal throw and have learnt where the box needs tlc when shifting. But having said that, the short shifter certainly makes it different to drive and sometimes I just love how short it is!
Gearbox rebuild ? you dont like the HPA setup or is it worn ?
Not likeing the HPA Set up as the Car doesnt have the German Ponies under the hood..
and no im not going forced induction
and i think at one stage some n00b has put non genuine GB fluid in the box
and it has damaged the synchro rings.
What makes you think that, mine was really notchy and I did the shifter adjustment as per VW specifications and it fixed her right up ? Have you tried re-adjusting the cables ?
Surely, it would be far cheaper to replace the flud with MT-90 and try that out ?
ive adjusted the cables many times..
ive had the Fluid Changed Twice
the Fact I cant engage any gears without rev matching even when the motor is revolving around 2,500 times perminute screams a little dodge..
that and every other R i have driven with twice the Kms has nice smooth shifting.. very willing to shift and positive feel
