How much is a new/used alternator for the MK4?

Hey guys well ive found out the amp im putting in for the car will be fine. But i would like to know just in case the alternator does stuff up eventually, how much a brand new one would set me back or one from the wreckers?
Roughly how much am i looking at?

Not sure about the wreckers. However, I blew my alternator in the Bora and the dealer quoted $2100 installed for the Bosch one, VW one is more expensive. I did get it done at trade price though, but that's another story.

You can get re-conditioned 120A ones from the US pretty cheap, it worked out to be about $290-300 when the dollar was much better so now it's probably not worth it.
