Help! Spark Plug Problems
hey guys,
have noticed that my spark plugs seem to be burning out at the bottem, cause the car to smell rotten, and also become very sluggish in 3rd n 4th gear..
i have changed them 3 times now.. now im just waiting for it to happen again..
also they are real oily , when i pull them out they drip oil.. not sure if this is a problem but ive never experienced this on previous cars.. is this commonw with mk4s?

Based on my previous experience with cars there should be no oil on a spark plug, ever. This means that somehow oil is getting into your combustion chamber. Generally a small amount will get burned off, but if what you say is true, by having oil "drip" off the spark plugs then I'm afraid you might have a problem.
This is only based on my knowledge of other cars, as a note, my aprk plugs have never had any oil or oil residue on them when I have pulled them out of the MkIV.
I think you will find that this is what is causing the smell, not the spark plugs. Have someone drive behind you to check on smoke levels when you accelerate. If you're getting any smoke other than black at wide open throttle, then you have a bigger problem than spark plugs....

You may have oil getting past the rings, or past the valve stem seals...This will cause your plugs to foul, and burn out prematurely...You may want to look at getting a compression test or leak test done...Also, look at your oil level...If you are getting oil into the combustion chamber, you may/will be burning it. Watch for white/blue smoke from your exhaust too, this will show that you are burning oil, and you may be up for a head rebuild or new rings, or maybe a head gasket if you are getting oil through there...
