Help! Fuel Gauge is stuck on full.

My fuel gauge is stuck on full. It only goes down when i switch the car off.

Any solutions?

fuel sender unit most likely or dash panel insert best way to iliminate dash panel is to remove the three screw that retain the cover ontop of the tank under the passnger rear seat remove the connector plug on fuel pump put the ignition on if fuel levl does not move its the fuel sender and not the dash panel insert there is a ring that has lugs on it there is a special tool but a screw driver and hammer does the job once the ring is loose unplug the connector purchase a sender unit remove as whole with pump then detach from pump get plenty of rags as dealing with fuel put back together in reverse order job done not easy to do first time so best to get some one to do it goodluck

Like william says, but if you have to get a new pump, may as well fit that too. I reckon its not that hard, do it yourself. Long nosed pliers are the essential tool to twist the pump out of the tank.

thats right its easier to fit as you can buy as one piece as apose to buying individually easier to fit just remove old fit new eliminate futher heart acre

Step one: Start car

Step two: drive to geelong

Step Three: repeat 2 until needle is on 'E'

Step four: fill it up again!

How long has it been doing it for?

It may be just an electrical glitch in the instrument cluster. Earlier BMW's had this problem when the owner would fill them right up to the petrol cap.

This was the fix. Disconnect both the postive & negative battery lead's & bridge the two lead's with a screwdriver or something metallic for a roughly 10 second's or touch the two together if they will reach. Don't bridge out the battery, just the leads.

This decharges/de-energizises any capacitor's in the vehicles electrical system. It may sound strange but this has fixed many a wierd electrical problem.

Nice, glad it worked out for you.
It's alittle bit hard to explain the in's & out's of this fix but, like I said this has fixed many a wierd problem from radio not working, to poor sat nav reception.
