Cant be bothered reading half the thread, serpentine belt is $80 bux plus a 20min fit max by a "competant mechanic".

I have an 01 4motion, I payed $200 for EBC green pads for the front and 260 for slotted rotors.

    You are being ripped off.

That is too much money mate.

    Are you near Wangara?

I have done business with Joe at Golfwagen and he knows his stuff and has been fair with me.

Geez times must be getting hard, them prices are steep. As for the Battery anything over 3yrs and you are on borrowed time. I drop test all batteries during service, which can show up great at the time of the test, any sign of weakness then the client should know otherwise like i say over 3yrs and the batts can just say tata and its normally at he worst time If you have taken the car to a dub dealer they can supply a printout as do Batteryworld and the likes, i personally dont like the plastic covers and thermal covers. They are for thermal effiency, but i dont think that applies over here.

I reckon you only need a battery cosy when the temps get below minus 10. My Passat was cold soaked in the Alps once for a week with no ill effect. That had no covers.
