HELP!! Battery and Other Bora Problems

I just went to pick up my Bora today, where I just got the 165,000 kms service done. The service guy tells me that after lunch the battery died and won't take charge... so I'm up for a new battery.

This sounds fishy to me, that it died while they where servicing it.. am I wrong?? are there any tests I can do to find out?

Also They said I need new rotars and pads costing about $950 which I guess sounds about right... how much would it cost me to get better rotars and pads?

that sound quite alot for rotors and pads. i maybe wrong. You could save abit of money doing it yourself. rotors and pads are not that hard to do

Take it to Batteryworld or someone else that does free battery checks. Is that for front and back brakes?

As Gavin said, batteryworld or similar shoulld do a free test of your battery.
I just replaced my battery the other week as it died over the weekend at the mechanics, we then jumped it and it was good for about another week but then I listened to the radio for an hour whilst I washed it and it died again. Replaced with a 560CCA maintenance free battery for less than $200 with a three year replacement warranty.
Is that rotors and pads price just for fronts, backs or both? Not sure on your rotor sizes but it's a better price than the $550 odd per front rotor not including pads or anything else that I got quoted for the R.
    Cheers,

This is the quote I recieved from the dealer
Serpintine belt requires replacing (Cracked) $165.00
Front Brakes require new rotors and pads $974.00
Front lower control arms are worn out and require replacing $284.00

It doesn't say anything about labour... not sure if its included

oe belt from South yarra spares costs $80.
pads cost me about $200 odd bucks last time and I really doubt the discs are that worn let alone cost that much.what about machining?

id be looking at a local euro mech shop.
    is this a vw dealer?

That's mega money for the brakes.
Call 000 and get the Police onto them!!

The rear bushes go in the wishbones and they were $90 a pair for TT ones from Audi 2 years ago. Fitting would be an hour a side plus an alignment.

Not sure on the price of the belt but fitting wouldn't be very long.

The brakes would be an hour all up in labour, again can't comment on the cost of the parts but at nearly a grand, it seems really expensive.

took longer to remove the under tray than putting the belt on.... push the tensioner with a big metal rod,,,and hey presto! new belt!!! 20min max!

call these guys for parts prices.
