    Help!!

    HELP PLEASE!!

My car is a 1999 1.6Litre Golf Automatic (Engine Code AEH). I have found a replacement engine which is from a later model, also 1.6Litre Golf Manual (Engine Code AKL).

Will it go straight in or do i need to make any modifications? Im hoping not.

Please help, bcs the engine is waiting until i confirm and my car needs an engine.

Hi and welcome to the forum, hrastovica. First of all ... where are you located (it can be helpful when recommending good engineers / repairers if we can make them local for you). Also ... some of our more mechanically minded members may live close to you and be able to give you good advice or help.

I'm sure someone will come on (possibly in the morning) and be able to answer your questions.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Update your location in your profile mate. Makes it easier to help you.

I have actually done that job, put an 02 1.6 engine into a 99 model car.

It was a pain in the rce.

Everything is slightly different, manifold doesnt clear the rocker cover, so that had to be shaved, plate was needed to block the egr valve and the cam angle sensor needed to be modified.

We have a full VW workshop and it still took us a while.

The easier option would be to get the correct engine.

Update your location, maybe someone round the corner has one in their shed.

I've got the correct engine if you need it.
I did need a 2002 engine but just purchased one.

    Akl Replaces Aeh Without Anymodification!

    Here is an update...

AKL engine replaces AEH without any problems. No modification required. The engine went straight in and runs perfectly.

Thankyou to Golfwagen in WA for their help, check them out on ebay. The engine arrived in perfect condition, went in without any probs, and everything went smoothly (even over the silly season).
