HELLLP - VICTORIA - Golf MkV GTI Inspection help needed

    Hi Mob,

I need some help in Victoria.

my son is interested in purchasing this car

    2007 Volkswagen Golf V GTI MY07 Direct-Shift Gearbox

However, as we are based in WA, I was wondering:

1/ Is anyone familiar with the car?
2/ if someone on the forum, who is familiar with MkV GTIs would be willing to pop out and have a look/drive of it and let me know their views on general quality, any issues, and also on credibility of owner?

If you feel its a good car, we would still follow through with a proper independent inspection done as well.

    any volunteers?

    Cheers

    Gareth

Looks very clean and tasty mods have been done to the car. Good luck with the search!
BTW you've posted in the wrong area for MK5 talk.

    Cheers,
    Nathan

for that kind of money, I would be looking at spending a bit more and getting into a mk6

thanks caput, will try to get it relocated.

F_A, its already over budget - nil chance of spending more

No tune yet it has a Catback and a CAI. Bit weird to do that. It's probably shooting out fuel like no ones business due to those. I'd help you out with a scan and test drive, but it's about an hour away from me.

    - The APR intake basically does nothing as it keeps the engine cover so you shouldn't have to worry about that.
    - Those aftermarket Xenons looks absolutely horrid.
    - Catback will make it rather loud and would be a bit of a cop magnet on P's (if your son is on them)
    - Those 19's with the Suspension will hurt your spine a little.

It looks like an okay car, but in 3000KM it will need a DSG service and that's gonna hurt. Make sure it's had the Cam Follower and Timing Belt replaced as well. Receipts and all the usual stuff. It looks like an okay car, but a VCDS scan will reveal any faults. Hopefully it's had all of it's servicing done at the right time.

Sent from my eyePhone in the year 3013.

    thanks Deadpool, good advice.

Phoned the seller, and he hasn't got books, so be a risky buy.

No books? That's very shifty. Even if he's had the services done by an Independent Specialist he'd have receipts. Steer clear IMO.
