    H E L P-Removing Bora door trim inserts

Firstly sorry if this has been answered but did searches and couldn't find anything to help with bora.

Hey all, put my drivers window down today but when went to put it back up, the button clicked into auto up mode like normal but i heard a plastic snap sort of sound and window wont come up at all.

After much hassle and trial and error hubby managed to get door trim off but there is a grey panel that encloses the actual area where glass is from main door trim. It is held in place by about 8 hex bolts which are easy but it also seems to have large pot rivet type things that seem unremovable on it.

Does anyone know if these can be taken off so we can try fix it ourselves or does it have to go to VW? I think the glass has just come off runners but they will charge a fortune just to get to it.

    Any help greatly appreciated

Window regulator has failed. You will need to get a the repair kit from VW which is about $80. The window reg is a bit of a bitch to remove but it can be done. Contact VW_Tech on here. Its been a while since ive done one but the door lock needs to be fiddled around with too!

I had this happen to me on Xmas day on my drivers door and as such my girlfriend wasn't a happy camper !!! I had been planning to replace this as I am doing sound deadening and replacing the speakers.

You will need the repair kit from VW which is 108 $. These two pots which are close to the door lock I believe are to be drilled out. They were already done on mine because I had to have the door lock replaced under warranty. (Don't quote me though)

There is a guide on Vwvortex.com that details exactly what needs to be done as well as a step by step guide with pictures.

I removed the window from door while working on it. Just remember to take your time as there are lots of clips and things. I snapped my door pin rod of from my lock but managed to get it back in as I had a spare

Let us know how you go.

i had the same problem with my first golf, went to put the window up and bang, fell into the door - I bought the star kit to take the door off with and just had the massive plate to take off - i took mine to vw in parra (service center at the very back) and i was charged 350 to replace a plastic clip - expensive but thats what you get when you drive a euro car. it can be done, as the other boys said the clip is required, they replaced mine from the plastic to a metal one.

Oh I didnt know the whole thing came with plastic. Thats cheap and very scaley. Go for the clips at 108 $ ! And surely if VW cared about us, we could just buy the clips at like 8 $ each !!! Note to others: If you dont need the reel and metal cables you could always try buying just the clips from Online somewhere.

yeah... i have a problem with one of my windows where when its really hot, it won't wind down, but works again later.... time to get these clips....

oh, and strangely, when its hot, sometimes my sunroof goes up and down randomly a couple of times without me touching it - does my car have a ghost or something?
