GTI - Removing Centre Dash Pocket

    Hey Guys,

new to this forum - I got my GTI about 6 weeks ago and am now starting the modications!
I've installed an Alpine HU but I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the pocket above the HU location. I figure there must be some tabs somewhere on the pocket, but I just can't find them.
Has anyone got any advice on how to get it out.

    Thanks.

    Alex

Pull the headunit out, get your hand in the space and pull it out from behind. No tricks or tabs to it!

there's a clip in the back that holds the pocket in place giving it a decent dug will pull it free.

As it turns out the dash pocket is also held in place by the cage that supports the stock Eurovox radio - I've removed the radio but the cage is still in the dash. I see two clips either side of the cage that I believe hold it in place, is this correct? If so are there proper tools to remove these without causing any damage?

    Thanks,

    Alex

The eurovox unit should just come out as a single unit like any other 1 DIN HU.
The cage stays put. The cubby hole thing just pulls out aftert the HU is removed. It is only held in by a clip at the back. Just pull really hard it will come out.

You are talking MK4 Golf yeah ?

Where are you located ? If in Brisbane I'm happy to pull it all out and help install the new unit. I've done it a few times.
