New Member - Taillights Switch Question

Hi all, new to these forums - they've been a sensational help in the short time I've been reading (and driving my Mk4).

    I'm looking to switch out the factory tail lights with the very visible orange bit for the factory tail lights with tinted lines in the middle;

    These...

    For these...

What I'm curious about is if there is any significant modification to the wiring or anything of that nature. I haven't been able to find anything on the net as yet (but I'm not entirely sure what keywords to be searching for in the first place).

    Thanks in advance!
Will post pics of the car soon - it's starting to look alot better already

Nope - it's a direct swap out! All the lights are in the same position and should literaly clip and screw straight in.

    Welcome to the forum.
They are the GTI lights. No modifications needed. they also came on the Generation and sport models.
    Hope you enjoy the forum.

Welcome mate! There might be someone on the forum how replaced their GTi/R32 lights and might still have them. Post a thread in WTB section, you never know...

or you could tint your current ones yourself, worth a try before blowing a few hundred on a whole set of lights. you can get spray on tint from auto stores and it actually looks half descent.

Thanks all for the quick replies!
I'll have a scavenge around the wreckers in Dandy on the weekend -see what treasure I can uncover.

I'm just about to head out the port area around the West Gate in Melbourne and look for a happy snap area

    Ok Happy Snaps!
Couldn't find any good lighting around the dock area so I'll have to come back on the weekend during the day.
I've had my Mk4 for just over a fortnight and loving it. It's a little downgrade in performance coming from my Audi A4 1.8T but the idea was for me to learn to stop driving fast all the time.

So far I've put the 18" JB chromes on it, dropped it around 3" with pedders red springs as they were a bit lower than the eibach ones I was going to get, stereo and my DJ mate's sticker on the back window.

I'm a raver so I love my music - got a 12" kicker comp sub in the back with a 800w monoblock pioneer amp and an alpine head unit driving the stock speakers (which coincidentally sound awesome with treble up and bass at -7 providing you have a separate RCA channel for the sub). The head unit has USB and iPod in so I can plug my iPod or my thumb drive in for easier music management, and oh boy is there a serious lack of room in the centre console of this car! What a disaster to install!

Next in line is a seriously dark tint and a new exhaust system. I'll get it lowered again later on.

    Thanks for reading
