    Golf Sunroof Leak

    Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. I know it is due to the drains being blocked and am about to attempt to fix this myself.

I've found many links on vortex about repairing just wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge on doing and any tips they can provide.

Including on how to remove the headlining.

If not i guess ill just take loads of photos to help others out.

I've done it , prepare for long hours and sore fingers lol.
Now that I've done it , it's pretty easy. If you get stuck let me know.
Just be gentle with your clips.
The sunvisor clips are the trickiest, plent of info on vortex.
I needed to re- attach the drain pipes ( front & rear)

a guy I forgot that I booked came to my house. He chucked a long price of flexible metal done realised.the.hose wasn't connected on either sides of the front. He then got the hode connected back to the nipple without even taken one but of trim out. Now the I can pour down loads of water. And it all comes out.

All is.fixed now I hope. Can't wait for the next rainfall to ensure it's fixed

A simple test for blockages it to run a hose over the roof, or carefully direct water to the drain hole and observe. After a few minutes all the water should have drained. If you squeeze the nipple end of the grommet in the A pillar, or under rear bumper and more water comes out it is probably blocked.

For the front take out the rubber grommet in the A pillar, near door hinge and confirm the pipe is there and not blocked. It is likely to be blocked at the bottom not the top. So forget trying to remove the headliner etc.

For the rear, the pipe runs down behind the bumper, if you have a gander from inside the rear near the tail light you can see the brown pipe running to a grommet. The grommets have a pinch end. Remove the pipe and inspect for blockages.

How do I know this ?
I have had my car fill up about 3 inches deep on the floor, I had to remove all the interior. Seats, console, carpet, you name it it came out.
It was bloody loud driving around with no carpet for a week while it all dried out.
