FOB only unlocks it.
You still need to manually release it with the handle on the outside.
Even if you could release it from within the car, you still need to lift it yourself, so it's kinda pointless.
Hey guys.
Got an interesting question for people in the know. So, I have an 03 GTI, with a two button FOB.
There is no switch within the car to pop the trunk and none on my FOB as it is a two button one.
The only way, I currently know of, is to open the hatch manually with the handle.
So, a couple of questions.
One: Is there a hidden switch/button inside the car that I have not found yet that will let me open the hatch from inside?
Two: Is it possible to transplant my key and RFID chip into a 3 key button FOB and the hood button just work?
Three: How difficult is it to wire in a switch to be able to pop the hatch?
FOB only unlocks it.
You still need to manually release it with the handle on the outside.

So is it possible to get a three button FOB and fit my key and RFID into it?
I'm considering shaving the handle, and as ECS have a kit to get it to pop open more than normal (read: open right up), if all I have to do is get a three button FOB and retrofit my two button FOB into it, I'll go with that option
The ECS kit I mentioned...

Those parts that are in the ECS kit, are not already fitted to your vehicle.
Ive read it somwhere you can use a door actuator and wire it to the ccm so it unlocks the hatch, need springs on the gas struts and help the hatch lift right up. On my to do list also!
What parts specifically?
From what I have read, all they do is add an extra force to the unlocking mechanism, up-rated gas struts and spring loaded stops?
Basically I just want to shave the rear hatch and still be able to access it. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a three button FOB either, but maybe that is a different thread.
So after a little more research alot of people have bought the boot button from a vw sedan and wired the actuator to that, power is taken from the wiper motor on the hatch. Dont need new shocks just springs and scirocco bump stops cut down. Try ukmkivs and vwvortex. Personally I want to try and do the 3 FOB remote so I can open it with that but its alot more wiring and need a ccm with the 3 FOB compatible. Ive done a 1.8 conversion on my golf so I dont even have central locking yet so Im hoping to do it all in one go.
Solid information.
Yeah, I've seen a thread about using a US passat button and wiring it up.
This thread here to be exact.
As for CCM, I wonder if my current CCM is compatible with a 3 FOB. Otherwise, I'd have to replace that and get a key new RFID etc etc
If you have done a rear wiper delete you can use that to pop the boot (rewiring required obviously). Just get the ECS kit imo
