while driving to uni today on the fwy, the mk4 all of sudden felt like it stopped for a second and then continued to drive normally. it happened 2 to 3 times.

After continuing to drive it, it lost its power, felt like i was pulling a tone behind me.
Recently my fuel gauge has been playing up, going up and down each trip. So i decided to refill before coming home to see if would resolve the issue and seemed to fix it. but the the tank was said to be half full and only took 30litres.......
