Golf GTI cruise control light failed...

Hi there, a bit of a long shot as the only obvious answer may be the worst possible scenario but the cruise controllight on my 2004 Golf GTI has stopped working. When I pull the cruise control switch to the 'ON' position on the left indicator stalk and fiddle with the 'RES and 'SET' buttons, the cruise control engages like it always has but the light on the tachometer side of the cluster which indicates that the cruise control has been engaged no longer works. My guess is that the LED has failed but I have heard that these LED's outlive the car and that a failure is highly unlikely. I have checked both fuse 11 and 15 and both seem fine. I have recently took my ECU out to try a different ECU from a non AGU car, but that was't successful, however after fitting my original ECU back, everything seemed to work fine. I didn't bother checking the cruise control switch then as it didn't occur to me but I don't think it would have anything to do with that. I have read somewhere that disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes will reset the system and someone that also had problems with the climatronic lights had success doing this but I have a Revo stage 1 and have heard that people with Revo loose their map after disconnecting their battery.
Like I said, bit of a long shot but hopefully someone out there has an idea. It really isn't a big deal since the cruise control works, but I'm just a little pedantic and like everything to be working on my car.
    Anyone...?

Not sure if Revo solder in a chip but for sure a Custom Code tune wouldn't switch off. It's the only one in there as the chip only has a small memory.

Swapping in a different ECU that isn't the same part number isn't going to work. There'd be immobiliser problems to start with.

Have never seen that LED fail. Usually on the mk4 either of 3 things....clutch and brake switch fault or the stalk itself cause the cruise not to work...but yours is working just not putting the light on.....never seen that mate

The ECU had the immobiliser swtiched off. The ECU apparently had an APR tune but it was obvious that the ECU never cam from an AGU as the tachometer wasn't working and the 'low oil pressure' warning came on the MFA. So we put my ECU back in and that was that, everything back to normal. That took place about 2 weeks ago, and yesterday is when I noticed that the cruise control light wasn't coming on so I doubt very much that swapping the ECU and than swapping back has anything to do with that. As for Revo, I got that a couple days after the initial disappointment of the APR ECU not being suitable so I just went to Revo and they put the software in. No soldering.

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead but I'm in the same boat.
Cruise works flawlessly but I've never seen a 'light'? Always assumed it was something to do with the tune.
