I suggest wiring it up seperate from the Vw plug mate. Beware using a Laptop on it as well as this can get damaged when wired to the original VW plug. Get yourself a new 12v supply, Ign supply from elsewhere and you will be laughing mate. The drama all lies in the original plug. Your central locking is fused on the same line as the Radio. With the seperate wiring then introduce your own inline fuse. Central locking will then be spot on with the Alpine mate

    Update :

Everything's fixed and I'm a happy camper again!!

Found a great guide for installation of aftermarket stereos here :

    http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/177496.aspx

The Autobarn installer had botched a few of the wiring positions in the harness. Once these were put right, the stereo worked fine and the keyless entry did too.

Just saved myself a whole lot of dough by not having to take it to the dealer to be checked out.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. This is by far the friendliest forum I've ever come across!!

bugger i only just found this post, yeah i was going to say you have wiring crossed over and most likely have the K-line connected by accident.

Another guy on this forum had his radio installed funnily i think it too was Autobahn.

Well it ended up blowing his ECU so he had to replace it. Ouch

Just a quick one on that, if the k line is wired wrong you can zap your laptop when scanning too, NOT good.

It's all good, I made triple sure the K-Line wasn't connected to anything in the harness.

You need to check your measured value blocks for the doors which can be done seperately. This will tell you what state the micro switches are in open or close. I would be saying your door panel is coming back off, no comms, something off, implausable could well be the module is faulty.
