    Gearbox oil MK4 1.6L

    Hey fellas,

Looking at changing the oil in the gearbox, It's been around 50,000k's since the rebuild so thought I might change it as there is some sticky changing into first/second sometimes.

Have been advise by the redline consultant to use MTL-RL132-4 described on their site as :
Manual Gearbox Red Line 'MTL' (* Advantage option for Performance & Racing use Superlight Shockproof.) @ 2.0 Litres = 3 US Quarts

Anyone have any experience with the above? also how many litres does the 1.6L box take? Do i need any special tools other than the hex keys/sockets to undo the filler/drain plug?

i recently changed my gearbox oil with redline lightweight shockproof... immediately improved shifts.

Dont know where your looking to buy from but check out performancelub.com.au thats where I got mine, and he's damn cheap compared to the usual retailers.

    Thanks guys......

Might give it a try and see how it goes, maybe do the VR6 if theres a noticable difference.....

I got some prices from Bursons around $40 for 1 litre, might try the other place mentioned and see what they quote.

Ho many litres shal I buy ?

Even though mine has done some 64,000 kms...and not sure if the previous owner had changed it...maybe i should consider servicing it.
