Gearbox Leaking Oil.. any ideas?

Hey Everyone, Ive just bought a Mk4 Gti recently and im sure they used to be a member of this site, anyhow..

Just recently i made my way upto the North side of Brisbane over the gate way i heard a strange noise like i ran over a can or something.. i looked back in my rear vision mirror and i couldn't see anything i hit.. the car felt a little odd like extra vibration's so i took it easy and coasted her back home which was only a few km's away.

When i got home i Reversed it into a car space and notice as soon as i got out of the car a Trail or fluid from the car from when i swung back in reverse. I looked under the car and saw a small puddle building of what i believe to be gearbox oil, i know the smell and colour.

it was dripping off the very bottom of the bell housing of the gearbox, i Then jacked up the car and got under her and examined that the oil seemed to be all around the input shaft (Drivers Side) into the gearbox. ( Green Plastic looking Seal ) seemed to be all moist where as the other side seemed to be all dry and oil free.

i cant see any other oil leaks around the engine or gear box, and im sure it only lost 500ml of oil, I can still get the car into all gear and even drive's fine ( tested up my road and back ) Anyways im not sure weather its the driver shaft input seal on the drivers side or weather its make the input shaft seal in the gear box and the oil may be trickling down from inside?? but the clutch isnt slipping..


One last thing to note, The clutch had be making some weird throw out bearing sounds over the last few weeks? very minimal sound and never got any louder.. im not even sure if its been there the whole time cause u cant hear it over music.. hahah any ways any ideas on common faults or ideas to what it could be please let me hear it..

Hmm was thinking the worst there, diff pin through the casing , but i seem to be thinking otherwise now. I can have a drive in her if you like to put your mind at ease
