    Gauges

    Hey,

I was wanting to fit some gauges to my Bora, they don't come standard with Oil pressure, temp etc.

My question is what gauges are the essentials to be able to tell something is awry and are they needed because I am sure the computer would monitor this and give a fault on the dash if it was under ? I would like to monitor it myself though as well as being able to tell when the engine is warm etc.

Can anyone recommend some good cheap gauges and what type I should be looking for e.g. mechanical, electrical and what is needed to fit the actual gauges, like a VDO oil sump temp bolt etc.

    Thanks !

well the first thing you will need is a din pannel gauge holder, then use electric gauges much nicer looking, i would use the auto meter cobalt gauges as the light up like the oem dash, or get some new south performace ones. hope it helps...

I just ordered some from these guys http://prosportgauges.com/

Cheap, electric, many colours and sizes, metric options and no controller needed.

There are also these Speco ones. Not sure how good they are, but the plasma gauges look intriguing. In fact, i'd like to know if anyones seen the plasma ones in operation?

I reckon the newsouthperformance ones look the best in a mk4 as they light up the same indigo blue colour! 42dd is expensive in shipping as they only ship tnt so its not really worth shipping single items (althought ive done it a few times now lol).
