Sounds like you've got one of those native dudes from "the gods must be crazy" under there somewhere!

But seriously I'd be checking that leak and if it persists, get it to your mechaninc.

I thought about it, because mines been making the sound few a yr or 2, I wonder if it had something to do with the A8 reps i had on my car, they were silly heavy.

yeah fairly heavy. i posted on vortex, people think it's the axle. which is certainly better than gearbox/tranny!

let us know how it goes. I noticed that my sound is definetly coming from the left side, i.e. both windows down, i hear it out the left window.
doesn't rule out a whole lot... but it's a start

id say i hear mine more from the right.
made a lot of noise on the way home on gear change down just before. sounds like something spinning with a wire hanging off it, which hits something else on the way around, but its only once or twice just on the gear change down...

ask my mechanic, he said he couldnt hear it??
Said the gear box looked and felt fine, and everything else looked ok.
He did replace a lot of fluids on my car, and on the few days i got to drive it after i cant say i noticed the sound.

If you go full lock one way and the full lock the other does the sound change at all?
