Fuel Leak Help
Hi Guys,
Just need some help with a fuel leak I've got in the last couple of days. After searching all over the car I found it was coming from the fuel pump sender unit under the back seat. The leak is coming from the black outlet pipe. Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and an idea of approx how much its going to cost to fix. Any help would be great until I can get it to my mechanic on Monday. Thanks

Try taking the pipe off and refitting it. If you look at the joint, you'll see that if you squeeze on pair of opposite sides, it releases the pipe.
If that doesn't fix it I am not sure how you would do it without replacing the pipe from the pump to the next split.

Its actually leaking from the base of the pipe outlet. Can you remove the elbow without breaking the connection to the fuel pump?

Not sure where you mean. Is it coming out between the pipe and the elbow? If so maybe warming it up will cause it to shrink as it cools down again.
If the stub on the top of the pump is broken, you'll be into a new pump. I have a good one from an A3 if that's the case. I'll check the connector if you need it.

As it is leaking from the base of the L shaped connector, I suspect that this is the connection to the pump and this is faulty. Every time I switched the ignition on, petrol would come out of the base of the connection.

Definitely take the connection off and put it back on again then.

Thanks, will try that tomorrow. Will any fuel come out? I have diconnected the electrics for the pump.

There will be some residual pressure in the pipe if you have recently started the car. If you leave it over night it'll only dribble out. Have a rag handy anyway though.

Ok, so I had to remove the whole pump assembly because there was a crack in the connection on the lid. So I'm now up for a new or second hand assembly. Is this what you have spare?
