    Fuel cut / Rev limiter?

    Hey Guys,

This morning I woke up and started my car as normal. Everything seemed okay bar the really cold weather (3 degrees). I drove slowly around off boost for 15 minutes until I hit the highway and then started to wind it up in 5th, at about 2,800->3k RPM the engine seemed to hit some sort of rev limiter or restrictions and would not rev any further, I backed off and reapproached the same rev limit and it happened again. I'm not sure if this is correct, but I have had the car do the same thing when the fuel light is on? It also happened yesterday morning when I started the car (4 degrees). When I got into work today I turned off the car and left it for 2 minutes, then restarted and drove to a clients, I again reapproached this rev limit and boosted straight through it (no restrictions). This also happened yesterday! It seems to only occur when I first start my car in the morning....could it be that some sensor is broken and is telling the engine not to boost and therefore is hitting fuel cut?

    Any info apprecieted!

    Thanks guys,

    Jake!

I would say limp mode, sounds like it.

Try resetting your battery for a few minutes and go from there.

I can guarantee you it's a hell of alot colder at my place and my car has never done it. Also my fuel light was on this morning as I was heading along the freeway and I had to get a little excited to get onto the exit ramp. I gave it a good rev in 3rd and she rocketed right through the rev range with fuel light on. It definetly aint normal!

Hmm. I ran the tank onto fuel light half an hour ago and it boosted up fine, all the way through to 5,500 RPM . I did some searching on vortex re: limp mode and found some info. If it persists I will find someone with a VAG so I can see what errors its throwing.

    Thanks guys!

Have you put the car on a VAG-Com yet?
