apparently the E type replaced the A type in 2000. (strange that my car is from 2003/4 then, suppose us aussies were left with the old junk)

i sourced a relay from a mate who part owns a wreckers, just gonna cost me a beer
Going to pick it up this avo, though i've got a bad feeling about whether it'll fix the issue.
I just went to my car now, pressed unlock and the key fob, then the god damn wipers start!
Though they move very slowly and make a terrible sound like a dying horn.
    what the hell is that?
    both wiper fuses are pulled.
Do i have a short somwhere?
I'm hoping it is just a short in the relay, although with the fuse taken out, it sounds like i've got a short somewhere else?
    crazy

Do you have some horrific aftermarket alarm / immobilizer??? Particularly a repellor???
I finds these are all fitted by teenagers at strathfield car radios or similar and can be spliced into anything.
If you remeve all the alarm wiring and put the loom back to standard, that will fix 90% of electrical faults in the car.

    nope no aftermarket alarm.
i went back to the car then to repair some panels, and as soon as i pressed the key fob again, same thing happend.
i turn the car on, put the fuse back in to try get it to act normal. as i'm operating the wipers nomrally occasionally i get that sound again.
i suppose it is like a sound with the motors receiving the incorrect voltage (such as the signal current)

anyway i've removed the relay now and have left the fuse in. will see how it goes.

car is now going wack. Lights turning off, horning sound, flashing inside lights.. Freaking me out. Now air bag fault apparently. It seemed to react whenever i touched the crossovers which are in front of the relay board... I think the problem has nothing to do with the relay as it was unplugged
What the hell do i do???

    PROBLEM FIXED!!!!! (i think)

    All good!

I think i worked out the problem!

I looked around to what was in contact with the crossovers.
everything seemed fine until i checked the earthing point.
    It was loose!

I must have not tightend it properly last time i did it up.

this is an old pic of it when i was re-doing the earth for my boost gauge (re-stripped the wire so that the nut didn't do what it did here when the last person installed it...)

So i guess your wipers are the first thing to play up when this earth goes bad, followed by your headlights and instrument cluster!

now i just need to reset the airbag fault... might have to buy a v-checker

still owe my mate a beer for the relay though haha

ah yeah good point, will do that, cheers.
at some stage yesterday i stuffed up my knee and i've either got some cartilage floating around behind the knee cap, or i've torn a ligament.
    from one problem to another....

edit: ecu reset didn't reset the airbag warning...
