    Foff's R32

    Hey guys!

So most of you would know I recently in the last couple of months bought myself a Reflex Silver MK4 R32.

Earlier this year I was driving my MK3 down to Melbourne for a car show when this happened:

I was about 15 minutes past Yass (very luckily) and my instrument cluster decided to die on me. It's a fairly common problem in mk3's so I just figured I'd fix it when i got to Melbourne. Who needs to speed check anyway? Little did I know that the lower elbow coming off the water pump disconnected itself and drained all the water onto the road. So my car was running with no coolant and I couldn't tell because my cluster was dead haha. A friend came to rescue me with a new elbow and some new coolant, I was hoping by some miracle that I hadn't done any damage, but alas the head gasket was toast. I managed to baby the car back to yass and parked it at the local skate park hoping that some kids would steal it or something, but when I got back with the car trailer it was still there feeling sorry for itself.

Anyway I'd had enough of old cars, I was on the look out for something a little newer that I didn't have to worry about. So I was on the hunt for a mk5 Jetta Tdi 6 speed manual. They were at the price I was comfortable with paying and after driving a mates Tdi Caddy for a while I had to have a diesel.

I hadn't even inspected any cars yet when I was speaking to a mate of mine about buying a Jetta. He then mentioned he was looking to sell his R32 and that I should take it for the weekend to test drive it. I dropped the car back to him Sunday night and had made my mind up that I had to have the car. I sorted the money out and within the month it was in my hands!

Dont mind my mate haha. He's hectic like that.

There were a few reasons I went for this particular car over other R32's. This car had the major service (timing chains and whatnot) done only 5000kms prior and came with a few goodies. Particularly the KW V3's, APR Carbonio intake, and APR tune. the Flapper mod had already been done by a previous owner so that was all sorted as well.

Anyway so far the only things I've done to the car is install the UniBrace Xb

Shampoo and Condition the front seats which has made a huge difference!

and I've also cleaned out the inner guards, got a free pen and noticed the top spring perch on my drivers side shock is broken.

Anyway, I've got a few things I want to do to this car but next up will be buying and installing some adjustable rear control arms. 2 sets so I can adjust camber and toe, as well as camber plates for the front.

I'm a 3rd year apprentice, living out of home for the moment so progress will be slow to start with but should get a little more exciting towards the end of next year.

Haha Jed I think if ours were side by side yours would be a lot cleaner! This one has a fair few stone chips and one little dent infront of the drivers rear wheel.

You're not wrong bima! Totally different cars!

That's not too bad. Mine currently has: stone chips all round, scratched underside of side skirts, gash/dint/scratch in roof (shipping group who but it too Brisbane I believe), and gutter rash on all 4 wheels (previous owner). The downsides of buying second hand haha
