    Firewall wiring/tubing.

    Hey guys,

I've read a ton of DIY's and they all seem to be different to my MK4.

Im trying to run a subwoofer power wire and some vacuum tubin for my boost gauge tomorrow, and I've had a look yesterday, AND CANNOT FIND A THING. No decent gromments in the firewall, and the rain tray is a pain in the ass. I got it off and that looks like my best option, but now the tray wont even sit back properly.

Any suggestions for our always different AU models?

yes, take the rain try off and on the drivers side is a black plastic box, cut a hole there use a proper grommet and seal well rain try will go back alright just push it into the seals

Yep this is an easy option.
There is grommet on the passenger side in the rain tray as well. Just near the AC filter box, comes out behind the glove box.
For the drivers side a hole in the plastic box is best. I ran a gauge 4 wire through there for an install.

If you look near the "ski jump" thing behind the air cleaner, all the main harness from the engine bay runs through a grommet in the firewall just under it.

This main grommet has a number of small nipples around it to pass new wires through. Just need to cut the tip off of one.

You may have to fold the soundproofing back slightly to see all this.

If you look under the glovebox all the wiring comes through the firewall there (up near the recirc flap).

If you use the plenum box method then make sure its very well sealed where you put wire through as that whole thing can be submerged in water sometimes.
