    Thumbs down A few suspension questions

    Hi Guys,

    I recently bought some Whiteline swaybars for my Bora.

    The problem is that the front swaybar is a control-arm mounted bar, but my Bora (4Mo) has strut-mounted bars.

    My questions are these;
    1. Do the sway bars need to be replaced to lower the car when the swaybars are strut-mounted? I know that its common for the sway bars to hit the control arm when you lower MK4's but I cant see this really being a prob if the swaybar is attatched to the strut.
    2. I cannot find anywhere that has strut mounted swaybars. Does that sound right? Are they called something else?

    3. Does anybody want to buy a Mk4 front swaybar, cheap?

    mine has a control arm mounted one. a end link comes up from the control arm to the sway bar end (just infront of the driveshaft)
    thought the 4mo front setup was the same as the FWD boras.
    normal mk4s rub on the driveshafts, not the control arm, unless you use whiteline bars...

    Ok, so my end link comes down from the strut, just under the sprint seat. The Whiteline bar I bought is for control arm end links... Even browsing ECS for 24v MK4 Jetta shows all the end link stuff for the control arm mounts.

    Hmmm.

    Unfortunately us V6 4mo Bora drivers cannot use ECS 24v Mk4 as gospel because they never got 4mo, just fwd! If you want any suspension parts, then check the Mk4 R32 or Audi Mk1 TT quattro sections as these are direct replacement parts.

    Thanks goodfella, does that mean sway bars are not required when lowering the car ?

    As the states only got the FWD's and all the brake replacement bits seem to be for the 288mm rotors, does that mean the TT and R32 brake rotors are replacements also?

    Look at the brake parts for the Mk1 quattro TT over there (180hp and 225hp), the rotors should be 312mm, which are the same as we got on our Bora V6 4Motions.

    The Mk4 R32 (and the V6 TT quattro) got 334mm front rotors, so different again. We did get the same rear brake setup as the R32 - 256mm ventilated.
