Feasible to bring my mk4 GTI over?

I'm thinking of moving over and wondering if it's feasible to bring my 99 Mk4 GTI over it's got 76k on the clock or should i just sell it and start fresh once in OZ? Also anyone know cost involved with bringing cars over what requirements it needs to meet? I'm thinking i either need 2 fit my stock downpipe back in or try and find a freeflowing CAT here 2 stick in as I'm currently running it with no CAT.

I agree, also consider that they can be had for around 10k at auction in Australia, for a 99' or 00' with under 100k ...

Fizz, you could buy a 3door GTI in nz...

Plan 1. Keeping your 5door for the moment, get a 3door and put both cars side by side and swap every part you want into the 3door, and every part you don't want chuck back in the 5door and then sell it.

    Take the 3door to oz.

Plan 2. Take every good part you want off your 5door now and replace with standard, sell it and take the parts to oz, buy another GTI and fit your parts.

lol would buy a 3 door but not exactly easily available here either
Only reason why i'm considering bringing my golf across is because I've put in alot of time and money into it (ofcourse not as much as some of you Aussie boys ) and I love it 2 bits. the other thing is that the car is fully paid off and realistically I won't get a decent amount for it considering everything I've done thus far.

I see your point mate, the fact is a 10K car here in Australia, is only worth 4K in New Zealand due to the massive amount of 2nd hand Jap imports. Fact is a Skyline worth 4K in NZ, has an asking price of 15K in here. I think the rule is if you owned the car for more than 12 months you won't pay importation tax on it. Just Shipping and Registration

    hey Fizzy boy,

you need to make sure your GTI does not run the G12 Aircon gas, if it does it will have to be removed.

You will also need the car Dereg here in NZ, and yes will have to own the car for more than 12 months. Shipping and compliance will cost around the $5000 - $10000 to bring over and comply.

So there you have it, The only big bonus you will get by getting a Aus GTI is that it has IMMO2 and had cruise control.

Serious over in Aus you need the cruise control.
