Is it at a reputable car yard? Maybe get a VW dealer to check it out. Small car yards have their own workshops they work with and will get anything passed to make life easy for themselves.

Take some advice from someone who has plenty of experience. NEVER buy a car because you have fallen in love with it, ALWAYS look at any car objectively and remember there is ALWAYS another equally good or better car around the corner. This applies doubly with VWs because they can be quite expensive to repair.

Reading your posts would indicate you are relatively inexperienced with cars, there are so many unanswered questions about this one it is scary and potentially a recipe for disaster.

    Cheers

    UPDATE

Went to the dealershipe today. Got some more info on the warrenty. Its an Australia wide recommended repaired warrenty. Which means anything goes wrong with the car i can choose where to get it repaired, and that includes Volkswagen

Also did some asking around. Apparently 100,000kms service is a major one, which includes timing belts. The dealership said that they will do the service at no charge.

In addition i took the car for a spin. Its great to drive. Sound system sounds crystal clear as, 2 12inch subs in the back. The car drives smooth and is quiet as, but when you hammer it thats when it opens up and flyssssss. Only thing is you gotta take bumps and humps slow and on an angle otherwise say goodbye bodykit. Thats just an annoyance though.

Did you get around to clarifying this, is it supercharged, is the FMIC connected to anything? Why would the previous owner have intended to turbocharge a supercharged engine? What work has been done for $40K?

I think these are very important points, gives an indication of what you are actually buying.
