Sway bars on drive shafts and control arms gives a grinding noise rather then a knocking noise.
Iv got money on a bush somewhere from previous wear
Upgrading your arb's at some point is probably not a bad idea anyway - rear is definitely good value. Mine corners like it's on rails now.

Top mount, bearing kit, front and rear control arm bushes arrived yesterday. Will b going in on weekend!
Lachlan whats arb?
Anti Roll Bar, sway bar, same thing
Is it a squeek or knock? A couple of us 6r polo guys are having an issue with what sounds like a knock inside the cabin with KW V1's but if you get in the engine bay and give the front end a push down its a squeek thats resonating through the body/mounting points in the wheel arch.
Seeing as though the golf mk4 and 6r polo share alot of suspension parts im guessing its the same issue you're having
Yea its a really weird noise, deffs a knocking sound though. Changing my bushes this weekend so I'll see if that fixes it.
I have a similar noise going on.
Changed gearbox mount since I thought my motor was hitting the power brace under neath the car.. still knocks but not as bad. Was hoping the dog mount would be worn but gav pulled it out tonight.. looked perfect.
My swaybar is actually touching the subframe though.. enough to take paint off it.. gav thinks I need longer sway bar links. They're already the mondeo ones..
Will have another look tomorrow and see if I can diagnose this.
All other bushes have been replaced
i was chasing a knocking in my mk1 thinking it was a top mount issue, then lower ball joint even thinking it was a cv, but when i had my coilover out the knock was in that! there was a locking threaded cap that holds the shock in the lower tube that had wound out causing the shock to move about 10-15mm up and down within the coilover assembly, thread locker and tightened it up and good as new!! now i just have some cheap nasty coil overs in but could be worth a look?
Driving the coal. Low and rattly.
