    Expected Dyno Figures for MK4 GTI?

    Hi guys.

    Just wondering what figures you have pulled on the Dyno and with which mods? Has anyone dyno'd their stock MK4 GTI?

    I searched and found a post of someone who had chipped their MK4 and got 101kw at the Dyno.

    We are doing a Mighty Mods video at the moment on our MK4 GTI and wanted to get some info from you lot before summing up any findings.

    Cheers!

    Well my Polo GTI (obviously the same engine) with just chip got 123.8kw at the wheels. As far as I know, the MK4's only make a little bit less than Polo GTI's after chipping (due to slightly different engine components) so I would have thought it should be making a lot more than 101kw.... around 115-120kw maybe . My car was only making 100kw at the wheels with deliberate heatsoak set in, after 6 runs.

    Depending on which dyno you run your car on u'll get different results. Best 2 run b4 and after mods on the same dyno 4 better results. I got 107kw when my car was stock on one dyno and 98kw on another.

    Looking at between 90~95kw stock and 110~120kw chipped. (From all the graphs i've seen)

    Polos make a little more due to having Ko3s and cleaner cooler piping instead of just a plain Ko3

    ko3s = ko3 with ko4 compressor wheel iirc.

    If a chip manufacturer offers to take the GTI from 110kw to 150kw (flywheel) then factoring in drive-train loss of 30% then this should amount to approximately 105kw at the wheels on a dyno right?

    30% is way too much for a FWD car, more like 15~20%.

    X2..... a 30% loss is about what all-wheel-drive cars suffer through the drive train.
