Gday all,
Recently bought a Bora 4mo with a modified exhaust. Its full custom and is ridiculously loud (like 105db @2500rpm loud)
The current setup is custom 2x 2" straight through piping from the twin high flow cats into a small VE commonbore muffler tucked under the back seat and from which two pipes stem with small hotdogs on them. Has no real resonator and the small muffler drones badly through my cabin and other cars around me too, especially from 2000-3000rpm (friends have also informed me of how annoying it is). I love a nice growly sporty zhorst but this is too much for me, my neighborhood and especially the local and stringent police.
I've been given a r32 golf zhorst to fit up but that's a single pipe from the muffler (in factory position under the boot though) all the way toward the front. It'll match up to the mounts, but Ill need to a y-piece made up for it to match up to my current setup and could be potentially expensive.
Local shop around the corner suggested fitting up a factory walker exhaust from a fpv gt but to its going to cost nearly $300 for it to be matched up to the current piping. Some serious 180deg+ bending is required.
So does anyone have any recommendations on how to improve my current setup to be quieter?
Or maybe some experience with the r32 exhaust. Is it worth mucking around to try and make it fit?
But mainly, my biggest request is for some exhaust shop recommendations who might know a bit about veedubs and how to improve my setup for the best. I work full time (70+ hours) so they would need to be open on a sat morning or at the very least have after hours option within a reasonable distance from the Knox area.
Any help is highly appreciated!
Thanks heaps!
