How about a metal polish such as Autosol?
As you know I have recently bought a MKIV R32, Was flicking through the brochure that was still in the car and I saw these two silver things that I think they are called exhaustsMy car didn't have them when I bought it, just two tail pipes that were very very dirty that you could hardly call exhausts. I have found after many washes that inside the exhausts, it is still very dirty no matter how hard I spray, scrub, wash etc. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem or what chemicals to use so that I can get my R exhausts back to brochure/showroom condition?
Thanks
Tom

... I just clean inside mine but don't bother to much. I guess you know that everything the engine doesn't burn gets thrown out the exhausts ?
You could try a wire brush or some sandpaper to get rid of the buildup. But it might scratch.
could try some throttle body cleaner to clear the carbon deposits from the inside. Be careful not to get it on your paintwork though!
Then as said above; autosol is awesome metal polish.
Brake Clean will get it clean...Just watch your skin...It will dry it out like a bitch!!

If the outside of the pipe is dirty/oxidised, I use one of the Mothers Powerball mini's and Autosol. Works a treat and easy on the hands too!

Steel wool, water, detergent and some elbow grease. That's all you need. Don't worry about the steel wool damaging your exhaust, it won't.
Also some brite shine wool metal cleaner which you can get from autobahn or the like will help you out.
