So 18x8 +35 all round with a 225/40/18 will stick out the guards?
No, it would look pretty much like mine (except 18" instead of my 17"). I think maybe Dylan is referring to the original query on the 17x8 +20, 17x9 +25 which I think would definitely poke at the front. A lot.

With 18x8 +35 you would be safe with 225/40/r18 at a decent height, seeing yours is stock you will have no problem.

    most guys get a 18x8et35 with a 225/40.
Silver dub and I both ran 19x8.5et35. we both JUST sat outside the guards at a 30-40mm drop, but mine lowered down to 50-60mm it tucked right in.
so height makes a big difference.

yeah i was refering to the orginal post of 17x8et20 and 17x9et25, thanks. it wouldnt be crazy poke, but you would definatly need some form of lowering to make it work.

matt is right on the money. his car is a good example, the more he lowers it the more spacers (more agressive offset) is being applied to his wheels.

On a stock height car stick to something like 18x8et35, on a extremely lowered mk4 you can almost tuck 18x9s on stock guards

Have a look around at specs other people are running. look at the cars height, tyre size, wheel width and offset and find something that matches what you want.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

So you're saying that lowering obviously changes the geometry and gives you more camber which tucks the top in? You guys must trash the inside shoulders!

yeah pretty much, the fronts dont really camber though.. they 'suck' straight in.
You can actually see and hear the front tyres sliding inwards when you let the car off the hoist some times.

Pardon the ignorance but is it a double wishbone front end? Thats the only way I could see lateral movement happening without drastic camber changes.

if the camber bothers you, I'm sure theres a camber kit out there to suit.

be cheaper in the long run if you plan to wear out tyres
