Ok since I pulled the fuse box out to see how damaged it was the outside temp guage doesn't work. Any ideas? And also are both mirrors suposed to move when I set the drivers side mirror?

Yes both mirrors are supposed to move. Someone on here mentioned before that you can program it out but I quite like it.
On a GTI the sensor for the outside temp is on the passenger side front bumper grille. Not sure in a beetle. Maybe locate it and check that it works.

I found it but unsure as to how I can go about testing it. I might just disconnect the battery and see what happens

So did the outside temp guage work before you disconnected the fuse box?
Also hasve you put a fuse in so that the fan control module works?

The temp guage worked before and I've put a fuse in and the fan still doesn't work or it hasn't got hot enough to work. And the oil light is telling me the sensor isn't working now.
