Hi all,
I've had this problem really ever since I bought the car, but was told by f**kwit dealer that it was part and parcel of the old 1.6 motor.....But the dealer is another story....
What happens is that it has a slight rock at idle, similar to a miss-fire but it's not affected when accelerating etc. It is also more prevalent when doing a cold start, no matter if i'm parked on my hilly driveway or on flat ground at work. I find this strange as the commodore that I owned and it had a miss-fire from a gunked ignition lead terminal on the distributer, but it suffered the whole time, not just at idle.
It disappears when the aircon is on also.....
Things I have done:
1) Told dodgy mechanic he's a f**king liar and i know engines so don't he dare try to f**king pull the wool over my eyes. (This didn't work funnily enough)
2) Replace all spark plugs, no's 2 & 3 are a bitch, thank god for Kinchrome's uni jointStill not fixed.
2a) Speak to Bazzle, he lends me his VAGCOM thingus to check fault codes, find out why all electrics in passenger side door failed, clear that fault, windows work goodoh, and have a intermittent reading from O2 sensor at high rpm, guess that needs looking at, but this problem is at idle, not under load....
3) Fork out a small ransom for some CRC Dedicated MAF cleaner. Mine was Filthy!!!!! All nice and shiny, wires are sparkling, put it back with great anticipation and......Not fixed
4) Replace all ignition leads with high temp silicone jobbies, idiot me did it while engine still warm and fried part of my hand on the engine block. DUH!
5) Future attempt: Head down to gun shop in clayton, buy a 12guage and a box of buckshot and fix it once and for all!!!Yay!!But no car....
Any help guys would be appreciated, this car is sending me grey and im only 23!!
One thing that I probably should have done is reset the ECU after cleaning the MAF and replacing leads.....Would this help tho??
