However a stand alone unit can give you much more flexibility and allow you to tune to suit your car. A chip is made to suit all cars and sometimes if you make some modifications to increase power on your car the end result would not be as good as from a chip. With a stand alone ECU you can retune the engine to take full advantage of all your engine modifications/upgrades.
If you are planning to go to a stand alone ECU I would highly recommend you find yourself a good tuner because even the best and most expensive ECU wont perform good if its not tuned right.
does anyone use a boost controller with a chip setup? nothing fancy, just something like a dual stage which lets you set your high/low boost levels
or is the tune of the chips not agressive enough to warrant such a mod/expense?
