ECS Tuning have a sale on for Quaife LSDs for 02J 5-speed gearbox

    Hi guys,

Any of you running 02J gearboxes who've been looking to add an LSD, now might be the time. ECS Tuning have them on sale for USD$629.95 (down from USD$890.95). Not only does this mean you get 29% off the price, but you'd also slide this in under the AUD$1000 limit for goods, and thus avoid paying duty and GST.

    Details are available here.

That looks good but I wonder how the traction control would react?

OK, decimal point inserted where appropriate, thanks.

Traction control engages when it detects slip between the speed of the wheels. An LSD helps prevent this from happening to start with.

Basically, an LSD is prevention, traction control is cure. And we know which is better...

Good point! Hmm, so this would fit my Bora right? Any idea how much work is needed to fit it? I notice it does not include a fitting kit.

Some of the higher-power GTIs might. And then there's wet weather...

If you have the 02J gearbox, I believe so, yes.

However, as Golf Houso has pointed out, whether you'd see any real benefit (particularly when compared to the cost) may be something you need to consider. In the dry, unless you're regularly doing high-rpm clutch-dumping takeoffs, you're probably not going to benefit too much. In the wet, you'd probably see more benefit in terms of giving you a cleaner take-off from standstill.

Does not really matter, an LSD is all about getting the power you have on to the road in the most effecient way.
