i got my front rotors and pads from ECS. I got genuine rotors and EBC redstuff and i thnk they are great. The dust is there, and like someone said, if you want your car to brake properly, the dust has to be there.
I had a set of some Mintex pads before and 2/3ds of the dust was gone compared to genuine pads (textar i think), but 2/3ds of the breaking power was gone too, which you really feel.

So im all for the dust. I need my car to brake, not look clean after a month of not washing it

And I thought this would be easy.

So what is the important measurement to look at, just the diameter?

OK, I am getting closer I think, found this site that actually lists the parts for the 2002 Bora V5:

    2002 VOLKSWAGEN BORA Rotor

However, there are options there for 280mm, 288mm and 312mm diameter front rotors, seems to be dependant on the "PR No", anyone know what that is? I assume it is the centre 3 characters of my VIN which for me is 1JZ but that is not an option on that page.

Let us know if it truly does help though, and then of course pics or ban with the new pads and rotors.

Well according to the sticker in my boot, the codes pointed out by that web page would indicate mine are V0G and 1G2, neither of which appear on their site even if I pick Australia Bora V5 as the model. However, their parts list does indicate that it can take 288mm front on 16" rims and 312mm for 17" rims. So it is looking like 288mm is probably the standard size given that as standard the car has 16" rims.

OK, so back to ECS to see what they have in a 288mm disc ...

Doesn't appear so, to have 312mm rotors requires 17" rims, 288mm are required for 16" rims which is what the V5 comes with as standard. Now I know I have 17's on there now but my spare is still a 16" steel so I am going to need to stick to 288mm.

Back on the ECS site the kits I linked to in my OP include 288mm front rotors so I am getting more confident that they will be the right ones!

16" wheels fit over the 312mm brakes (that's what the Bora V6 4Motion (non sport version) came with. So that may not follow.

All Australian delivered V5s would have come with the same size brakes, regardless of wheel size. It's just a matter of determining what size that was - easiest way would be to call your local dealer, give them your VIN, and ask them for the part numbers for the front and rear rotors...
