Cheers.
The futuras are something Iv never owned, and just had to have them to add to the list.
Said I wasn't going to buy any more wheels let alone 17s or smaller, put a deposit on more today... whoops.
I remember cool wheels in 5x100 were once so hard to find, now they just jump out at me everywhere.
Stay tuned, 10.5s coming to a bora near you.
So parts arrived. Finally got it all together
Drop plates,
New bearings
Tt spindles
Tt brakes
New disks and pads all round
4mo rear calipers
4mo carriers with spacer
New dust shields out back.
Bye bye yellow
Almost forgot these were still hidden away
Hopefully slap it all in over the weekend as I scored a new job this arvo starting first thing Monday and I'd already started pulling stuff apart
How'd you go with the install Dyl?
Few issues.
Like removing the inner piece of the rear wheel bearings off the stub, and the wind back caliper tool I got was rubbish.
my mate jye came to the rescue after after a visit to his in the polo.
Had issues passing the hand brake cable thorough into one of the calipers, but bit of bending the brakes sorted that.
Everything back together, brakes bleed (well so I thought) with the help of stu on the pedal, turns out when there is excessive fluid loss on a abs car (or atleast the mk4s) it needs a kick start from a vagcom.
Brakes felt good til I started the car and pedal went straight to the floor.
Everything went together as planned though.
So drop plates and tie rod flip are ticked off the list too.
All the old brakes and pads were all ok, other then the rear passenger side which was toast. Issue was the piston had wound out too far and caused the disk to rub on the caliper carrier. Not bad with 255k km on the clock...
Abt back on, alignment straight away once brakes are working as there is some solid toe in up front from the new spindles and tie rod flip
Very nice indeed! Interesting fact about the brake bleeding though, I'll have to keep that in mind for when I do the Golf's brakes, she's in dire need of front rotors and pads.
But sounds like everything went to plan besides the brake bleed. Glad to hear the drop plates and tie rod flip are done!
