The dump pipes on ebay are so cheap that theres no way you could get a local exhaust manufacturer to fab one up for you at that price - just grab an ebay one and try to get one that has a cat (you will regret going catless as they sound crap, are illegal and absolutely stink).

had a whole turbo back exhaust made up locally for less than 1k. Made it to sound the way I wanted and it fits perfectly. Dont even bother with ebay stuff as I'm sure your local shop can do it for the same price if not less.

Stainless steel or mild steel? Press bends or mandrel bends?

I know that you can now buy mandrel bends and cut as needed which saves time and money but the dump pipes for the 1.8T 20v are very basic and theres really not much to them - i cant imaging the ebay stuff to be too bad. When it comes to mufflers and resonators, thats where spending a bit more on better quality stuff can make a difference.

golf 4 gti downpipe | eBay

Plenty outside of Australia. I am pretty sure Blackers10 near me bought one under $100. Worst part was the **** gasket to the turbo which juts blew out.

Scored an ebay dp for $60 and an exhaust delivered for $300 for a guy in vic who wrecked a gti. Mild steel with 100cell cat too. Exhaust shop about $200 to weld up flanges and fit to my car so $560 all up not bad
