Decided to start on other parts of the engine bay as I get a battery to start the car.

Relocated my ICM to the cabin filter since I changed my CAI and had no where else to put it.

Also did the resistor trick for the charcoal canister removal.

Found an old ecu plug from 1.6 loom so I managed to swap over my broken clip for a good one!

Once I get a battery I can start it up and see how it runs, may need an a3 throttle body with no cruise control to actually run the ecu properly. Seems Gav cant transfer over the tune from ecu to ecu so this may be the only way

Not much to update atm guys, figured I have to get a golf ECU tuned from Gav as the A3 ECU is throwing me too many problems. Did look at getting an A3 throttle body but ofcourse being non cruise its wired differently!

Tried to drive it on the weekend after using the golf ecu to adapt the tb then swap over ECU's but still wouldnt run right. Ended up stalling and I couldnt get it to start again do I pushed it home scanned it and came up with codes:
    01249
    1250
    01251
01252 all injectors short to ground intermitten so time to whip out the multi meter!

Plan is now to run my stock MAF housing and injectors once I have it up and running normal and healthy!

On another note when to my local Upull it and grabbed some parts to finish off my black interio which my wreck never came with.

Sooooooo.......Its been how long? A few months! Since the last update the car is now back to stock (still with F21 though) and doesnt run well at all. Symptons were running really rich, idles all over the place but when unplugged the car idles smooth. After a few scans on vagcom and the coolant temp sensor wasnt reading correctly.

Replaced both sensors with genuine parts and no change to the idle issue. At the current time Gavin was down and came round to take a look.Tried both MAFs on another GTI and both worked fine! Go figure :/ Tested the wiring and was all fine. Decided to take all cooler pipes off to see if a rag made its way into the pipes but no luck! Gavins friend Nigel cut an old loom of mine and tested the MAF right at the throttle body and it ilded fine! Weird as! Then tried piping from the top of the turbo through the MAF to the TB and it idles fine and not running rich. Boost Gauge was reading close to 0, did a bit of research and seems it should be running at close to 20 HG? So seems the turbo is under load at idle so its pumping more fuel into the engine and not enough air to balance. Had a friend suggest that my acuator could be bad? So close now surely?

Did find an AGN valve cover to polish to match my manifold, was a steal!

Dont do it, just buy a GTI. End of the day if you want to go through more hassle with wiring and getting it registered as a 1.8t then do it but if I could do it all again I would sell my car and buy a GTI. Only reason I didnt was I had already got my bars painted the same colour and I couldnt find a GTI in my colour. The conversion is reasonably easy, Lucas had done it in a weekend and has ran fine but I had limited time and knowledge which led me to rush and make simple mistakes. My advice is dont jump into if you can sell your mk4 and buy GTI.

At this time of my life I currently have no time to even finish this project and have no motivation to start again since its been problems after problems. Havent drivem it for over a year now which doesnt help either.
