drivers seat height adjuster broken

hey guys, was adjusting my seat height just to see what it felt like sitting down alot lower that i normally do. when the seat got to the bottom as i was pushing down on the handle something broke and now i can no longer move the adjuster handle.

is there something that commonly breaks here and if so how much do you think i would be looking at to get this fixed ?

The same thing happened in my bora 4motion about 2 years ago just after it was out of warranty, in my case the spring which was attached by a small plastic part to the bottom of the seat broke off. If you have a look under the seat you'll probably find the same thing has happened. I have found that sometimes you can adjust it when you are not sitting on the seat suggest you give that a go. I took it to a wrecker and he said he can swap the bottom part of the seat over the plastic part that mounts to the floor with the top part of your seat, or buy a seat from a wrecker and do it yourself. I haven't got around to doing it yet but plan to. I see you are also in Vic, I went to Golf City and found them to be very helpful but any wrecker would be OK. Maybe a good time to replace all the seats with GTI / Bora 4 motion leather interior? the seats are much more comfortable as well.
